A Woman Lights the Lights of Florida

The National Lighthouse Museum of Staten Island, New York will showcase the work of Romagean Personne for March’s Women’s Recognition Month. Romagean’s collection captures all thirty Florida lighthouses. She uses a medium of oils and archival board to showcase each lighthouse.

Romagean’s art has been featured at numerous universities, museums and galleries throughout the United States. She calls Colorado her home. Her love for art has taken her from her childhood home in Virginia to the Art Institute in Houston, Texas to eventually obtaining her art degree from Colorado Mesa University, Grand Junction, CO. Ms. Personne was a grant recipient from the state of Colorado that allowed her to continue her study of art in Leeds, England. She traveled throughout Europe as she researched the “Old Masters’” method of oils.

A commission to paint the Jupiter Lighthouse, by Robert P. Warren brought her from her snowy art studio to the warm beaches of Jupiter, Florida. While in Jupiter, she fell in love with the architecture and history of Florida’s lighthouses. She spent a year visiting, researching and painting all thirty of Florida’s lighthouses. She is excited to share this collection with the public.

Romagean is a member of several professional organizations which include; The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C., associate member of Oil Painters of America, Lighthouse Gallery and School of Art, Tequesta, FL, Ouray County Arts Association, Ouray, CO, and Montrose Art Association, Montrose, CO. Her work can currently be found in the Ago Gallery of Fine Art, Ouray, Colorado.
